University of New South Wales-The University of Queensland-The U

The University of New South Wales"s history dates back to the Sydney Conservatory of Mechanics and the Sydney College of Technology, which were founded in 1833 and 1878, respectively. These institutes were set up to meet the growing needs of Australia"s industrialization to teach young people new science and technology. In the aftermath of World War II crises, public attention turned to how to transform an agricultural society into a modern, industrial society, and as a result the NSW government decided to build a university to train outstanding engineers and technicians for Australia"s development. After a formal government decree, a university called New South Wales University of Technology was established in 1949.

The first university class was held with the participation of 46 students in the fields of civil engineering, mechanical engineering, mining engineering and electrical engineering. Students in each field, in addition to theoretical and educational topics, had to be trained for a certain period of time in the relevant industry in a practical way. Gradually, with the addition of other departments such as medicine, arts and law, the university was renamed the University of New South Wales to distance itself from its technological identity and reflect its generality.

In recent years, the University of New South Wales has expanded and gained a great reputation in various fields of research; For example, the university has the largest cancer treatment research center in Australia.

New South Wales University Campus

The main campus of the University of New South Wales is located in Kensington, which includes most of the main buildings of the university. The New South Wales School of Art and Design is located on the Paddington Campus and also has a campus in Canberra, Australia.

Kensington Campus is divided into north and south, separated by a central square and a science building. The University of New South Wales has several campuses or research departments in different parts of the state, such as Randwick, Kogi, Bhutan, D.Y., Cowan, Manleyville, Fowlersgap, Albury, Port McQuarry, Caffe Harbor, and Bankston Airport. A number of amphitheaters, university live venues and sports clubs are open to the public in addition to students.

The University of Queensland

History of the University of Queensland

The University of Queensland (UQ) was established by the Australian State Parliament in 1909. Teaching began at the university in 1911 at the Old Government House on George Street in Brisbane. In the first year, three faculties of art, science and engineering started operating with 83 students (60 men and 23 women).

After World War I, the university expanded rapidly and soon surpassed its position within the city. In 1922, another site in Victoria Park (now occupied by the School of Medicine) was chosen as the new campus. Four years later, Dr. James O"Neill Maine and his sister Mary Amelia Maine funded the purchase of St. Lucia, which now houses the university"s main campus.

New construction in St. Lucia began in 1937, and the first building, the Forgan Smith Building, was completed in 1939. During World War II, the university became the Advanced Headquarters of the Allied Land Forces in the South West Pacific.

In 1990, the university merged with the Queensland College of Agriculture, 80 km west of Brisbane, and the merger of the state"s two institutions of higher learning led to a significant increase in students. The former Queensland College of Agriculture enrolled its first students in 1897, and the institute has a long history of collaborating in teaching and research.

In 1999, the University of Queensland opened a large campus in downtown Ipswich, and the site, formerly used by the Challinor Mental Health Center, was established in 2010. The University of Herston"s main clinical and research facility is the third Queensland campus of the year. Founded 2010.
